Prestel and Partner Family Office Forum

October 15, 2017

Eva Yazhari (CEO, Beyond Capital) presented at the Prestel and Partner Family Office Forum at the Dorchester in London. Eva led a "How to" conversation in the Combining Profit with Purpose track at the Forum, designed to introduce family offices to the practicalities of impact investing and particularly to venture capital in emerging markets. Eva also spoke on a panel discussion detailing "Best practices in dealing with Impact Investments" alongside an SRI advisor to the Oxford University Endowment Fund, an independent impact consultant, and a European liaison for the Global Impact Investing Network.

BiD Network Investor Trip | Uganda

In March 2017, Beyond Capital traveled with BiD Network to Kampala to explore the budding social enterprise and impact investment ecosystem of Uganda. BiD Network’s goal is to support emerging market entrepreneurs to gain access to finance. Since 2007, BiD Network has raised nearly 30 million in investment capital for over 230 entrepreneurs.

Sankalp Africa Forum 2017

The 4th edition of the Sankalp Africa Summit held in Nairobi, Kenya, aimed at connecting entrepreneurs with investors, corporates, and policy makers to facilitate their growth strategies for the region. The summit brought together diverse stakeholders to deliberate on the building blocks of an integrated and innovation led economy. The Beyond Capital Impact Summit was a day and a half intimate gathering of philanthropists, investors, social entrepreneurs, asset managers and foundations sharing experiences of impact across the spectrum of grants through investment. Outcomes included connections between participants for collaboration in addition to a greater awareness of the practice of impact investment. Beyond Capital Fund has hosted sector-building gatherings of this type in Zürich and Los Angeles since 2009. Eva Yazhari hosted the event and Brian Axelrad was a featured speaker for a presentation entitled "Anatomy of a Deal," in which he discussed the economic and control considerations in venture capital transactions through the lens of an impact investor; he also participated in a panel discussion entitled "After the Deal," which covered post-investment relationships between investors and their portfolio companies.
