Beyond Capital is an impact investment fund that invests in for-profit social enterprises throughout India and East Africa. We invest in businesses that are focused on greater access to health care, water, sanitation and energy, as well as food security and financial inclusion, which can increase the quality of life and standard of living for consumers at the bottom of the pyramid. Though we seek market rate financial returns, Beyond Capital is structured as a non-profit, which permits us to emphasize fidelity to our social mission alongside our financial mandate.
Our biggest strength is the breadth and quality of the team. Like our leadership team, other Beyond Capital volunteer team members are alumni of (amongst others) Harvard, MIT, Columbia, University of Chicago, University of Pennsylvania, and Oxford Universities. We are further augmented by world-class corporate advisers as well as local, “on the ground” advisers who are close to our investments.
Eva is a Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Beyond Capital and a member of the Investment Committee. Throughout her career, Eva has been involved in management and investment efforts in both non-profit and corporate settings. Eva was previously a Vice President at EnTrust Capital Inc., an asset management firm where she worked on the fund of hedge fund investment team and specialized in due diligence and portfolio construction.
Hooman is a Co-Founder of Beyond Capital, Chariman of the Board of Directors, and a member of the Investment Committee. Hooman is a highly accomplished senior manager and corporate lawyer who has served as General Counsel and a member of the executive board of several listed and private companies.
Brian is Beyond Capital's Chief Investment Officer and is a member of the Investment Committee. He has been involved with Beyond Capital since 2011. Brian is a partner at Horwood Marcus and Berk, a Managing Director at Service Provider Capital, and an Adjunct Lecturer on Impact Investing at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Nicholas has served as a key Beyond Capital team member since 2012. He is a Principal at Tyton Partners, an advisory firm partnering with companies, organizations and investors in or entering the education sector. Before joining Tyton Partners, Nicholas worked in a nonprofit committed to closing the gap between education and employment and as an officer in the United States Army.
Matt is Beyond Capital's Director of Social Impact and is a member of the Leadership Team. He has been in his role since 2016. He is an Associate Director at Sustainalytics, and previously worked at BSR, a global sustainability consultancy, and in investment management at Hall Capital Partners. He was a Kiva Fellow (KF11) in Honduras and completed a bilingual MBA at IESE Business School.
Mehak joined Beyond Capital as an Associate in January 2018. She is passionate about increasing the access of low-cost, life changing products and services among disadvantaged communities and believes that social enterprises are the drivers of innovation in low-income markets. She holds a Master of Public Policy degree from Harvard University and has previously worked in education at Teach for India and impact investing at Asha Impact.
Mathilde joined Beyond Capital as an Associate in August 2018. Prior to this, Mathilde worked at NaTakallam, a social enterprise working on the financial inclusion of displaced persons, the Brookings Institution, and Trägerkreis Junge Flüchtlinge, a nonprofit focused on refugee education and integration in Germany. She holds a Bachelor's degree in International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania.
Ben is a serial
entrepreneur in Cybersecurity, technology, and emerging market outsourcing. A former EY Partner, Ben founded Alsbridge, one of the worlds leading outsourcing and offshoring advisors, later sold to a private equity firm. He has moved between large companies, startups
that he has founded, and the Big 4. Recently he
created a global Cybersecurity managed services business at EY. He now focuses on cybersecurity and is the co-founder of Acelros.
John serves on the Beyond Capital Board of Directors and Investment Committee, and is a Managing Director of Miller Buckfire. John also serves on the Board of Directors of the Greater New York Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Previously, he served on the board of directors of CHC Helicopter, Gate Gourmet Group, Haights Cross Communications, Second Market, Inc. and US Airways.
Dulari is an entrepreneur, investor, and a brand marketer. Dulari is a Principal at Synergy Ventures, providing early stage capital to entrepreneurs in CPG, technology, and healthcare. Previously, she was co-Founder of Phenomenon, a brand strategy agency, working with brands such as Wilson Sports and Intuit. At Beyond Capital, she focuses on entrepreneur development through on-the-ground mentoring, brand building for Beyond Capital and advocacy for impact investing.
Osman is a member of the Beyond Capital Board of Directors and is currently the CEO for Paddle8, the leading online auction house for art and luxury collectibles. Osman is also a Founding Partner at Xerion.io and an active angel investor.
Marty is a member of the Beyond Capital Board of Directors and serves as a Senior Managing Director at Seabury Group. WIth over 30 years of experience in a variety of human capital fields, Marty facilitates large-scale organizational change, including merger and acquisition integration, financial turnarounds, IPO's, bankruptcy, and restructurings.
Gabriel is a member of the Beyond Capital Board of Directors and the Director of his family's foundation (the Eckenstein-Geigy-Stiftung). For the last 16 years, he has also worked as a dealer in traditional Japanese Arts.
Abilash is a member of the Beyond Capital Board of Directors and is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of TresVista FInancial Services, an offshore Asset Managment and Investment Banking service provider. He has been involved in more than $20 billion of financing and M&A activities in media, telecom, airlines, automotive, life sciences and technology sectors and previously worked at Alta Communications and Merrill Lynch.
Michael Cox is a member of Beyond Capital Board of Directors and serves as the Vice Chairman of Seabury Group. Mike has over 40 years experience in the aviation sector on a variety of projects, including airline treasury, corporate finance, and airline restructuring.
Eric is a member of the Beyond Capital Board of Directors and is a Partner at Dechert LLP specializing in corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, joint ventures, an arbitration. Eric represents and advises domestic and international clients in transactions such as buy-outs, acquisitions, takeover bids, shareholders agreements and disputes, joint venture structures, and venture capital investments.
Thomas is the Chairman of Beyond Capital Switzerland, a Basel based tax-exempt association affiliated with Beyond Capital's U.S. 501(c) 3. Thomas is a Partner responsible for the tax division at Hoffmann & Partner, an accounting firm in Basel. In his role he advises companies and corporate clients on domestic and international tax issues, including tax optimisation and planning, particularly assessments and corporate transactions.
